In case you don’t know anything about me, here’s a few things to help you out.
I am a Scouser and a Geek
I was born in Liverpool in 1971 and lived less than 8 miles from the Liver Buildings until I was almost 35. My first computer was a VIC-20 in 1981, which I endlessly peek’d and poke’d into doing all manner of things.
I’ve been a full–time, pixel–pushing ascii warrior for over ten years now, both commercially and as a freelance nerd. In that time, I’ve worked for a ton of bands, seen my work on prime–time television, worked at Grange Hill and Hollyoaks, been recognised in the photo pit at the Warped Tour in Vancouver(!), and even had a couple of books published. I’ve also beta tested software for Adobe.
Front–End Web Developer
I live in the North–East of England, working as a freelance front–end web developer. If you’ve got something interesting to say, feel free to get in touch with me. Cheers.
A while back, I spent two years living in Stockholm where I worked as a front–end developer for Trig. My responsibilities included HTML and CSS, copywriting, some globe–trotting — under the guise of PR, marketing and research — and making custom profile skins for bands like Lostprophets and Funeral For A Friend.
The Eye Fund
I am also involved with The Eye Fund, which is a family–run charity — backed by Sir Paul McCartney — to raise awareness in the field of visual impairment and support people losing their vision. We started this when my brother, Simon, died a couple of years ago due to years of suffering with eye problems which caused him to go blind. You can also find The Eye Fund on Twitter: @eyefund.
Photography
Although I like to write, I prefer to use images as a diary and take pictures whenever there’s a camera handy. The results usually end up on Flickr, from which you can see some random thumbnail images below.
