Server Switch

mt1

I’ve been a customer of (mt) Media Temple since 2001. Originally, I was just hosting one site for myself. These days, I host a load for myself, but also a load more for friends, family, and clients.

Recently, I was thinking I should have some kind of project management & ticketing system in place for clients. Rather than emails trickling through with “oh, and while you’re at it, can you also fix…”, I aim to try and educate my clients in the ways of support tickets. They’re helping me to help them, right?

After looking at the options, I kept coming back to one I’d used at my last job: Redmine. Thing is, it wouldn’t install on my server space — the (mt) Grid Service. I casually mentioned I wasn’t happy about that on Twitter and @mediatemple got straight back to me to discuss it. Great service. A few days later, I’ve got myself the (dv) Dedicated-Virtual service and I have Redmine up and running. I’m migrating data as I type this. :)

Happy happy, joy joy.
